The most glamorous of careers often hide many a sad story beneath. Lolo Jones, who won both USA championships and the World Champion in hurdles is able to reach her present position with a lot struggle and a huge amount of patient. Jones was the sole child in a family of five, and grew up living in poverty. Jones' mother moved constantly and stayed for a while in the church basement. Jones was required to relocate to another school every throughout her time in high school because of this nomadic existence. In Theodore Roosevelt High School Jones was separated from her mother to pursue her interests in track events. She lived at four different residences during her time at high school, so she could study all at one time. Jones was a part of the orchestra of the school in Iowa and the Gatorade Track and Field Award. She also won this award in school. As she began college, Jones proved to be one of the top hurdlers. Jones was the winner of the 100 meter hurdles at the 2002 NCAA Track & Field Championship. Additionally, she was a part of the team which was second in the 100-meter relay. In 2003 and 2004 Jones took home the hurdles indoor event at the NCAA Championship. Career After completing her studies during 2005 Jones was able to begin training for an athletic career in track. The following year, she took home in the Torino Memorial event, and in 2206, she won the Ostrava track event, as well as the Heusden event for track.
